The Islander creates a beach vibe in Hilton Head

The Islander is a natural fit for the Hilton Head residence designed by Jane Frederick of Frederick + Frederick Architects and recently featured on Houzz.com.

Both aesthetically pleasing and functional for the screened in porch of the Wetmore Residence, The Islander is the perfect complement to this room designed with many natural looking materials.

Fanimation recently had the opportunity to interview designer Jane Frederick and learn more about her inspiration for this beautiful home.

Jane explained that she picked The Islander for the porch because of the fan’s nice lines and natural look. “Fans are hard,” Frederick said. “Because there area lot of ugly fans out there, but this one just fit with the feeling of the room.”

As you walk out of the kitchen and into the screened in porch, there is a very natural, island vibe in the room, and The Islander completes it, according to Frederick. In addition to the Fanimation ceiling fan in the porch, there is another Islander fan in the Wetmore Residence. On the second floor guest bedroom, The Islander brings that same vibe from the porch to create an Island getaway for visitors.

More about the Designer:

Jane Frederick and her husband, Michael, started Frederick + Frederick Architects in 1989, and together they specialize in custom residential design in hot, humid climates.

Frederick knew she wanted to work in design right out of high school, so she went to Auburn University and received her bachelor’s degree in architecture. Afterwards, she started working in custom and residential design and enjoys it because it is more hands on and more personal with the customers.

Frederick’s design philosophy is to utilize the land around the site. She strives to take advantage of beautiful views and natural shading.

“My style is influenced by the site I’m working at,” Frederick said. “This helps me decide where everything should be placed, like windows.”

Frederick’s passion for designing and working with her clients makes Frederick take pleasure in what she does.

“It’s so much fun creating something,” Frederick says. “I enjoy finding the pieces that work well with what the customers like.”
